She practiced as a litigation lawyer at three highly regarded law firms, in all of which she served as a partner. She now practices exclusively as an independent arbitrator.
Monica van der Schraft has served as an arbitrator in more than 30 cases, bringing to each her insight and experience in dispute resolution.
Monica van der Schraft is a member of the Court of the Arbitration and ADR Commission of the International Chambers of Commerce based in Paris (ICC) for the period 2024-2027.
She is the current President of the Chilean Chapter of the Club Español e Iberoamericano de Arbitraje (CEIA) (2024-2025).
She was the first Chilean woman to assume the presidency of an ICC arbitral tribunal, in 2020.
She is a member of the General Council of the Chilean Bar Association, a position in which she has been elected by her peers for two consecutive terms (2019-2021 and 2022-2025).
She has been certified by the American University Washington College of Law (Advanced Practical Seminar in International Investment Arbitration); Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Accelerated Path to Fellowship) and the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (Training in Dispute Resolution Boards). She also holds a Certificate for the Practical Use of FIDIC Contracts.
